Santa Rosa Family Photos
Despite what challenging year this has been, family portrait sessions in Sonoma County did not slow down! Sam and her family came to visit me last year when I had a family portrait booth at last year’s Clucktown Collective event in Downtown, Petaluma, CA. (It’s a pop-up market of local artisans and vendors and it’s absolutely amazing). She and I actually graduated together from Analy Highschool in Sebastopol like…. a “few” years ago and so it’s always really nice to see and connect with old friends to document their growing families. We met at Crane Creek Regional Park in Santa Rosa, CA for sunset photos. I come here often and I’d say the majority of people visiting are also other photographers and families but, it’s beautiful and convenient so we all find a way to work harmoniously around each other. Despite it being a frequent location for me, it allows me to continue being creative with my shots because there’s no guarantee my favorite “spot” in the park won’t be occupied by someone else. My apologies to all of the frisbee golfers…try as I might, I always end up in the middle of someone’s game trying to get that perfect shot and they’re usually too polite to yell at me. This time we had her daughter climbing on some oak branches —she totally reminds me of the cover of one of my favorite children’s books, “Where the Wild Things Are,” by Maurice Sendeck. Also those tiny little Converse One Stars are so damn cute!
